UTAH FESTIVAL OPERA

EMILY AND HARRY HEAP

Harold Heap


Father/Daughter duo Emily and Harold Heap are excited to return to the Noon Music at the Tabernacle concert series again this summer with a combined vocal and organ program. Dr. Harold Heap was born and raised in Iowa, and got his start as a church organist at age 14 and now has a Doctorate in Choral Literature and Conducting from the University of Illinois.  He is currently a church organist, conducts the Cache Messiah Chorus and the Christmas Food Bank Benefit Concert in the Logan Tabernacle, and has performed regularly in Tabernacle concerts.  

Emily Heap is a native of Logan, UT who grew up in the performing arts, acting and graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.   She is currently employed as Assistant Technical Director and Resident Lighting Designer for the Cache Valley Center for the Arts.

CHRISTIANSEN GUITAR FAMILY


Corey, Beck and Mike Christiansen

Corey Christiansen is a recording artist, writer, educator and performer. He has played and recorded with a long list of jazz greats throughout his career, has current recordings on Origin Records, leads his own band, is an active touring performer and is currently working on several online music education projects.
Mike Christiansen is Professor Emeritus in the Music Department at Utah State University having  founded the guitar program at USU and was Director of Guitar Studies at USU for 39 years. He was selected as Professor Of The Year at Utah State University and also received the ASTA (American String Teachers Association) Utah Chapter Outstanding Collegiate Educator of the Year Award, received the U.S. Carnegie Professor of the Year and was also selected as the USU Caine College of the Arts Professor of the Year.  Mike is a renown guitar educator and clinician.

Beck Christiansen (age 14) has been playing the guitar since the age of 5 and has performed with his dad and grandfather at numerous events. He has attended the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop, studying with top performers and educators.

Students of Carolyn Bentley, several young harpists -  Samantha Loosli, Katie Anderson, Christine Altom, Elise Idso and Addison Line will present a program of pieces that range from classical to pop to jazz and opera. Approximately 250 strings will be plucked by ten hands in solo and ensemble. Heavenly, surprising, soothing and inspiring!

IRV & CHRISTINA

Voice and Piano


Cristina Edlund and Irv Nelson are a vocalist/piano duo whose repertoire includes favorite songs from across the decades.


Cristina is a vocal artist from Idaho Falls. She has spent the last 6 years singing with many USU groups, including the Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Voices, Chamber Singers, and Jazz Night at the Skyclub. 

Irv has more than 50 years of piano experience. Irv is also an arranger, guitarist, bass player, and vocalist.  In addition to performing with Cristina, Irv plays with The Fender Benders and Relic Acoustic Band. Irv teaches piano, guitar, bass, and vocal lessons.  


THE CONCERT AND LECTURE SERIES IS SPONSORED BY  CACHE COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AN INTERFAITH AND CIVIC ORGANIZATION, AND IS ALSO SPONSORED IN PART BY THE RAPZ TAX.  THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS ALLOWS FREE USE OF THE HISTORIC LOGAN TABERNACLE, AS WELL AS PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
