WELCOME TO THE 2025 LOGAN, UTAH TABERNACLE SUMMER NOON CONCERTS!
26 May Cache Wind Symphony - to be performed at noon at the USU Daines Performance Hall
The Cache Wind Symphony [CWS] is affiliated with the Utah State University [USU] Band Program as a co-curricular wind and percussion ensemble for community members and university students. The Cache Wind Symphony exists in a dual role between the local community and the USU Band Program. It operates as a subset of the Cache Community Band, a non-profit community organization that is comprised of three groups: 1) The Cache Wind Symphony, 2) The Cache Community Parade Band, and 3) The Cache Community Jazz Band.
The
overall organization is directed and governed by a Board of Directors with
independent bylaws. As part of the USU Bands, the Cache Wind Symphony is
a wind and percussion ensemble performing as a concert band and under the
primary directorship of a board-appointed director, supervised, overseen, or
co-directed by USU band faculty.
May 28 Keep Your Heart Young

The older we get, the better we CAN get with good meds and great doctors to help keep us moving forward! And one of the most important things is being socially active and having a good sense of humor. Let's enjoy a fun hour with people representing various decades of "experience" with light-hearted comedy stories about life, facts about living and how we "got there!" There may be a few faces you'll recognize as part of this performance.
Our guest speaker is 98 year YOUNG Bernice McCowin. She's a delight to listen to as she takes us through her 98 years of enjoying life! Come and be inspired. And Bob Parson of the Blue Blazers will be our guest musician.
May 27 Rachel Worthen and Zack Grob
Rachel and Zack are
a husband and wife duo who love performing together! Since graduating with
voice degrees from Utah State University, they have performed in multiple
musicals together across Northern Utah. They are excited to share some of their
favorite show tunes with Cache Valley.
May 29 John Dalley
John Dalley has been singing starting with school, church and family functions. He taught himself to play guitar when he was 14. In high school, he was singing at clubs in Logan.
He auditioned for and got an agent with National school assemblies
and was booked in schools and clubs (and some prisons) across the nation. After
80,000 miles a year for 3 years of travel, he settled down and became a factory
rep. Now retired he continues to sing at Deer Cliff Inn during the summer
plus Franklin County fair, rodeo, 24th fireworks and assisted living
performances. He’ll be
performing Neil Diamond songs he used to sing on tour.
May 30 Josiah Cordes
A native of Lewiston,
Utah, Josiah Cordes began playing the cello at the age of 12. He earned a Bachelor’s
degree from Utah State University, a master’s from the University of Northern
Colorado, and a doctorate from the University of Kansas, all in cello
performance. He has a passion for bringing little-known music to audiences,
whether unearthing undeservedly obscure repertoire from the distant past or
premiering pieces that explore new aspects of his instrument.
Josiah currently
resides in Logan where he directs a private cello studio and teaches for Mountain
West String Academy.
June 2 Bright Star Preview
This preview of the Production "Bright Star"," heartwarming musical that weaves together love, loss, and redemption in a powerful story set against the backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and 40s. The show follows a talented young writer, Alice Murphy, as she uncovers long-buried secrets that change the course of her life. Packed with emotional highs and soaring melodies, Bright Star is a captivating tale of second chances and the transformative power of love and truth.
June 4 Young Artist Cup
The Young Artist Cup musicians are high school students from the Cache Valley are who compete in a competition and are showcased at our noon concert. The categories are in vocal, piano, brass, wind, percussion and string.
June 3 Kyra Moon
Kyra Moon is a native of Providence, Utah. She has been playing piano and composing music her whole life and loves to arrange music in different styles. She has become known for taking requests for piano improvisations from the audience, especially for Disney and Christmas songs. Her hymn arrangements have been performed by people across the country, and her music has also been performed on Temple Square. Kyra and her husband have four boys and one girl.
June 5 Logan Music Academy
The Logan Music Academy is a premier music school renowned
for its exceptional faculty and diverse range of music instruction. Offering
lessons in voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, violin, viola, and cello, the
Academy provides students of all ages and skill levels with a comprehensive
music education. Voted the Best Music school in Cache Valley for seven
consecutive years, Logan Music Academy is committed to fostering talent and
creativity. In addition to individual lessons, the Academy is home to the
Songbirds Children's Choir, led by the talented Brianna Krause, which has
captivated audiences across the valley with its beautiful performances.
June 6 Utah Peaks
Utah Peaks Players: A
Suzuki Ensemble is a multi-age string group based in Utah County. Currently
there are violinists, violists and cellists ranging in age from 8-17. This
group was created for the purpose of enhancing performance skills and instilling
a lifelong love of music in young musicians by building friendships and
creating memories, through reimagining the universal Suzuki repertoire and
more. The primary teachers are Lauri Driggs, Terry Fulwider, Erica Hardy and
Nicole Macias.
June 9 Cache Valley Men's Chorus
The Cache Valley Men's
Chorus, formerly the Imperial Glee
Club, was founded and has been performing in Cache Valley since 1916. Directed
by Jerry Vanderdoes and accompanied by Merrilee Broadbent, this group is
comprised of talented and versatile singers. Come enjoy the uniquely beautiful
and powerful sound of a great men’s chorus.
June 10 The Holt Family
“The Holt Family has enjoyed making music together for more
than sixteen years with each child beginning the study of their instrument at
around age three! Our performance will include folk, sacred, and classical
music performed on the piano, violin, cello, and guitar. We look forward
to sharing the light and joy that music and children can bring!”
Jun 11 Jerica Jamison
Jarica Jamison is a singer/songwriter from Cache Valley,
Utah. She loves music and the spirit it brings. Singing is her passion and
embodies a lot of who she is through the Christian, country, and pop music she
releases and performs with her band.
June 12 Jake Harvath Year of the Mustang
Jake Harvath is a long distance
rider from Heber City, Utah. He is the founder of the Year of the Mustang
project. A six thousand mile horseback journey that took Harvath and his
mustangs from Utah to the Atlantic coast and back. Passing through twenty five
states in total. Jake’s mission is to show the usefulness and versatility of
mustangs as working horses and to educate the public about the need for
adoption.
A horse trainer and farrier
turned content creator. Jake found a voice by documenting his journey on
YouTube and social media. Giving the world a unique look at what it’s like to
cross America on the backs of wild horses. Today he continues to educate people
about wild horses and the American West. While also sharing the life lessons he
has learned through living on horseback.
June 13 Michelle Broadbent Hatch
Michelle Broadbent Hatch, soprano and Cache Valley native, is delighted to be returning to the Logan Tabernacle Concert Series. Long time student of Darrell Babidge of the Juilliard School, Michelle is a seasoned performer across four continents, holds performance degrees from USU and BYU, and recently completed a doctorate in vocal performance at Arizona State University. She has been the recipient of various awards and scholarships, some highlights of which include BYU Singer of the Year, the Outstanding Opera Performance Award, she won the Concerto Competition at all of her alma maters, and was a district winner in the Metropolitan Opera's prestigious Laffont Competition.
Michelle grew up singing and loves performing music of all genres. In addition to many guest recitalist appearances, she has enjoyed performing leading roles in various operas.
June 13 Salt Lake City Letter Carrier Band EVENING 6:30pm at the Laub Plaza
We are the Salt Lake City
Letter Carrier’s Band. We have been delighting audiences for over fifty
years. As a group of approximately 30 volunteer musicians, we love sharing
our broad repertoire of music which includes marches, show tunes,
jazz, pop, classical, and patriotic music.
June 16 Ross Peterson & Richie Call
This summer the Lyric Rep will celebrate Christmas in July by remounting an extended version of Christmas in Montpelier. This one man show, based on the book by beloved historian, F. Ross Peterson, stars Richie Call as Young Ross. Join us at the Tabernacle as Ross and Richie talk about the process of turning the book into a play and share stories about the premiere in December.
June 17 Wasatch Back
Wasatch Back is a band of local musicians who are seasoned veterans of the music scene in the Intermountain west. They specialize in covering classic country and classic rock hit songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Great musicianship and tight harmony vocals characterize the sound of Wasatch Back. They not only can sing and play instruments, they do know how to please a crowd with their entertaining skills!
June 18 Mark Gibbons
Mark Gibbons grew up on a dairy farm in Lewiston, Utah and was a dairy farmer all his life until he retired a few years ago. (We've heard the cows miss his singing!)
He does loves to sing and has had the opportunity to perform across the United States. His bass voice is almost hypnotic and certainly does justice to the cover songs he sings. Mark’s wife Shanna puts up with his antics and keeps him in line as she works the background sound system.
June 19 Miho Everitt & Friends
Miho
Everitt brings her warm personality and outstanding skill at piano performance
drawing in her audiences with a concert you won’t forget. She brings together other outstanding
musicians who have performed with her for our concert series in organ, piano,
trumpet and flute and voice. Get ready for an hour of extraordinary music.
June 20 Craig Mecham
Craig
Mecham has spent more than five decades playing and performing on stages in
England, Utah, Idaho, California, Arizona, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania,
Wyoming, and Washington State. Early in his musical career, his band "The
Family Album" did an extended tour of England doing 350 shows in 13
months. He has performed for British Royalty, the Mayor of London, Chiefs of
Staff Committee of British Armed Forces, various elected officials, religious
leaders and countless 4th graders.
Craig
has more than 20 songs in his library of current releases. He recently took 2nd place at the
annual KSM Songwriter’s Contest and has been a two-time finalist at the
prestigious Red Lodge Songwriter’s Festival. He was nominated for the HUGS 24/7
Radio Male Artist of the Year in both 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. His
songwriting features solo acoustic guitar instrumentals as well as lighthearted
and humorous tales of growing up along with serious slice-of-life ballads.
June 23 Richard Hatch
A graduate
of Logan High School, Richard Hatch returned to Cache Valley after nearly four
decades elsewhere and with his wife, violinist Rosemary Kimura Hatch, opened
the Hatch Academy of Magic and Music in the historic Thatcher-Young Mansion,
offering instruction in sleight of hand magic and violin and viola.
On Sunday, June 30, 2024 The New York Times devoted
3 pages of their Arts & Leisure section to Richard's work translating a
1933 book by Guenther Dammann about the contributions of Jewish magicians to
the art form, which will be the subject of his Tabernacle presentation. An
overview of the book's contents and a history of its author will be paired
with several performance pieces related to the topic of Jewish magicians.
June 24 Dan Truman
Dan Truman continues to tour with the popular, award-winning
band Diamond Rio as their keyboard player. He is one of the original founders
of the band. He along with two of his sons also play in the well-known band
Nashville Tribute. We are fortunate to grab him off the road to have him share
his talent for our concert series. He performs some of his favorite piano
pieces (favorites to the audiences too) and his wit and humor bring
entertaining stories of life experiences touring with Diamond Rio and Nashville
Tribute.
June 25 Bear River Ramblers
The Bear River Ramblers are a country/bluegrass band from Logan, UT. They have performed frequently throughout Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. Their high-energy music and tight harmonies are a favorite at festivals, fairs and corporate events.
When they’re all together the band consists of Xavier Hay, banjo and vocals; Anna Anawalt, fiddle, mandolin and vocals; Craig Mecham, guitar and vocals, Paul Mueller, bass and vocals, Sean Salisbury on dobro and Buckley Banham on guitar. Both Anna Anawalt and Craig Mecham also have demanding schedules as solo artists.

June 26 Heather Vanboerum
Heather Vanboerum provides a deeply moving story of how a freak accident changed her life forever. In 2021 she was hit by a car in a Costco parking lot where her leg was severed on the spot. Four days later, her other leg had to be amputated. At that accident there were the right people on the scene who saved her life and there were touching miracles. Her story is one of hope and perseverance as she faced her new life challenges with courage, faith and a positive attitude. A story so tragic and yet it will leave you feeling inspired and realizing the most devastating events in one's life can bring a special light into the world.
27 June The Broadbent Family
Richard and Merrilee Broadbent, along with family members
Michelle, James, Annie, and Chris make up this talented group. This is a family
that blends their voices and their hearts to create beautiful harmonies and fun
conversations. Individually, they are accomplished and experienced
musicians. Bring them together and the fun increases exponentially! There
will be a broad array of musical entrees, everything from soaring Broadway
melodies to toe tapping country music. This will be a program you
will thoroughly enjoy!
June 27 Blue Blazers Evening at the Laub Plaza 6:30pm
These guys are fun! They love playing jazz and blues and they are good at what they do. Seasoned musicians (didn't want to call them "old") they'll make the hour go way too fast and you'll be wishing for more. Outstanding guitar, fiddle, drums, and guitar make this full band fill your expectations beyond what you expect in entertainment!
June 30 Mike Christiansen
Dr. Mike Christiansen founded the guitar program at USU
and was Director of Guitar Studies at USU for 39 years. His repertoire ranges
from classic rock and pop to classical. He has performed from coast to coast
doing concerts and providing background music for corporate events,
restaurants, and receptions. He has recorded music for television and film,
including the guitar work on the film, Surviving
Picasso starring
Anthony Hopkins.
Mike is currently Director of Curriculum for Consonus
Music.
July 1 Holly Conger
Holly Conger has been playing music in Cache Valley for many years both solo and with the band Juniper Junction. She sings original songs and chart topper cover songs spanning over the past century. Some favorite cover songs she does are by audience favorites: Patsy Kline, Brandi Carlile, Alison Kraus.
July 2 Olaveson Family
Music is an essential part of growing up in the Olaveson
household. As youth, Kurt and Michelle grew up together and even competed with
one another in music competitions. They eventually pursued degrees in the
medical field, but still make time for music as a part of their daily life.
Though originally from Rigby, Idaho, they have chosen beautiful Logan
to settle and raise their family. Four daughters later, the house is full of
girls singing, pianos playing, and violins serenading. Vivian(12), Elsie(11), Liesel(9),
and Jorja(4) started violin around age 4, and piano at age 7. Together they
will perform some of their favorite songs, as if sharing a concert from their
own home.
July 3 Jeff Shepherd
Jeff Shepherd is a native of Logan, Utah. As the youngest of
four, he credits his eclectic taste in tunes to the diverse sounds that echoed
through his family home earlier in life. From the folksy croons of James Taylor
to the more recent soul-stirring melodies of Jason Isbell, Jeff's musical
palette knows no bounds. With a knack for finding the perfect cover song and
infusing it with his own musical magic, Jeff is a true lover of acoustic guitar
who delights in sharing the tales of love, life, and the beautiful melodies
that make the world sing.

summer, the Lyric Repertory Company hires an incredible group of artists that
make up their summer acting company. Join us as the members of this summer's
acting company share favorite selections from their personal performance
repertoires and get to know these actors a little better.
July 8 Banjo vs Guitar
The former step-mom-step-son pair combine their talents and
offer a performance mixed with humorous stories from their blended family days
and musical histories as well as much improvised playing. Jordan, raised in
Cache Valley discovered his love for the banjo at age 12 and has won numerous
competitions over the last 20 years.
Step mom Lezlee Hales Monroe, a Logan native and current
resident of Clearfield is a singer-songwriter and has created multiple albums
of music as well as performs in two Salt Lake based bands.
July 9 Fry Street Quartet
This remarkable quartet - hailed as "a triumph of
ensemble playing" by the New York Times is a multi-faceted ensemble.
The quartet has reached audiences from Carnegie Hall to London and Sarajevo to
Jerusalem, exploring the medium of the string quartet and its life-affirming
potential with "profound understanding...depth of expression, and stunning
technical astuteness" (Deseret Morning
News). The quartet has a discography that includes a wide
range of works, and they have commissioned and toured new works by a wide
range of composers. Their collaboration with Dr. Robert Davies, Rising
Tide: The Crossroads Project, has been performed more than 60 times in
three different countries, and a film version of the project was released in
2020.
The Fry Street Quartet holds the Dan C. and Manon Caine
Russell Endowed String Quartet. Residency at the Caine College of the Arts
at Utah State University, where they have run the string program in the
USU Music Department for more than twenty years.
July 10 John Elwood Morgan
Americana singer-songwriter John Elwood Morgan is a true
American troubadour, taking his listeners through the western desert all the
way to the Appalachian mountain range and back again. Influenced by folk music,
bluegrass, country, and blues, John's solo acoustic approach and poetic
lyricism combine to craft a unique, homespun sound and authentic stories in
song. John's first official release, New Skies, can be found on all
major streaming platforms.
July 11 Musicality
Musicality performs upbeat concerts of classic oldies, love songs, patriotic numbers and everything in-between! Personal stories highlight the impact music has on our lives and gives a unique touch to this group's talented presentation. Violin, flute, tambourine and piano accompaniment add to the fun and energy Musicality generates during their performances

Surf rock is an instrumental
subgenre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly as found in
Southern California. Its use of reverb-drenched electric guitars, twangy
melodies, and driving rhythms makes the sound recognizable.
July 14 Cristina Edlund & Irv Nelson
Cristina Edlund & Irv Nelson are a vocalist/piano duo who share a love for classic songs through the decades. Their performance will take you back in time to some of the best songs ever recorded, that will please the ear, touch the heart, and bring back fond memories. Cristina is one of northern Utah’s favorite vocal artists. She specializes in the smooth sound of the classic vocalists of the 40s, 50,s and 60s. When she was at USU, Cristina sang with the Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Voices, Chamber Singers, and Jazz Night at the Skyclub.
Irv Nelson is a pianist, guitarist, bassist, and
vocalist who also performs with Relic Acoustic Band and other
groups. He is a composer and arranger whose work has been performed by solo
artists and choral groups around the world.
July 15 Bob Parson
Bob Parsons is a singer songwriter and is well respected as a musician by many top musicians in Cache County. He is best known for his musical talent as a blues guitar player for the band Blue Blazers. He looks forward to sharing a few of his original songs, written over the course of 50 years. He puts the soul in the blues and he's sure to bring an hour of entertainment you won't soon forget.
July 16 Fry Street Chamber Music Festival Students
Fry Street Chamber Music Festival students are outstanding
young musicians ages 14-18 coached by the Fry Street Quartet during an
intensive 10-day festival held at Utah State University.
July 17 Karla Axtell, Piano, Organ, & Friends
Karla
Axtell has loved playing piano all her life! She
received her piano degree at Utah State University in 2008, taught piano for
many years, and accompanies many different choirs and orchestras. She loves
performing on the Logan Tabernacle organ. Karla is married to Bruce
Axtell with eight children and 26 grandchildren.
July 18 The HartStrings
HartStrings performs a repertoire of sacred, classical, folk, and Broadway songs – anything from Orange Blossom Special to Lloyd Weber’s Pie Jesu. The group consists of Brody and Corine Hart and their six children. Brody was a member of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and Corine is a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square. Makenzie and Eliza, the two oldest children, are currently studying violin performance at The Juilliard School in Manhattan. Makenzie made her debut performance in Carnegie Hall in 2023.
HartStrings has performed numerous times on Temple Square. In 2015, HartStrings was asked to perform a Christmas concert for the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. HartStrings performs throughout the state of Utah and has in India, China, Thailand, Singapore, and Brazil.

to know these actors a little better.
July 23 Vanessa Ballam & Stefan Espinosa & Friends
Vanessa currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Musical Theatre BFA at Utah State University and has been performing professionally and teaching theatre around the country for 20+ years. She’s also the Associate Artistic Director/Education Director for Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre among many other positions in the musical field. She has performed with companies around the country she spent three years as a Resident Actor at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, CA where she oversaw the first year acting program. A former Miss Utah, Vanessa was honored with the Bert Parks talent award at the Miss America Pageant. Vanessa is married to Actor Stefan Espinosa and together they have two children.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Stefan has worked as a professional actor, director, fight choreographer, and dialect coach for the last 20 years. Some favorite past regional theatre companies include Lyric Repertory Theatre, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Utah Shakespeare Festival and Salt Lake Acting Company. Stefan is the Conservatory director for Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre in Logan, Utah. This fall, Stefan will be teaching acting, directing and stage combat at Utah State University in the theatre department.
July 24 Erica Cheyenne & The Traveling Hippies
Erica Cheyenne & The Traveling Hippies blend country
storytelling with a mix of genres, playing both original songs and covers that
connect with listeners through raw lyrics and dynamic sound. The band features
Zan Summers on drums, Jay Davis on rhythm guitar, Jaxon Davis on lead guitar,
Chris Mortensen on bass, and Erica Cheyenne as lead singer.
