A graduate
of Logan High School, Richard Hatch returned to Cache Valley after nearly four
decades elsewhere and with his wife, violinist Rosemary Kimura Hatch, opened
the Hatch Academy of Magic and Music in the historic Thatcher-Young Mansion,
offering instruction in sleight of hand magic and violin and viola.
On Sunday, June 30, 2024 The New York Times devoted
3 pages of their Arts & Leisure section to Richard's work translating a
1933 book by Guenther Dammann about the contributions of Jewish magicians to
the art form, which will be the subject of his Tabernacle presentation. An
overview of the book's contents and a history of its author will be paired
with several performance pieces related to the topic of Jewish magicians.
