Dr. Craig Jessop: LeRoy Robertson's Oratorio Preview

Dr. Craig Jessop will share with us a preview of the performance on July 31, 2019  at the Daines Concert Hall of LeRoy Robertson's Oratorio from the Book of Mormon.  This work has been described as "a stirring work of grand design." It will be outstanding with the finest of musicians!

Miho Everitt and Friends
Allyson Bailey, Jo Hays, Lucas Hilton, Rachel Smith







Once again Miho Everitt will be presenting a combination of talented musicians including herself.   Miho born in Japan,  studied and performed there and continued on to a master's degree in Piano Performance.  Allyson holds a degree in flute performance and has been performing for 30 years and is the business manager for the Caine College of the Arts.  Jo Hays has Bachelor's degrees in music (flute) performance  from USU and in mechanical engineering from Univ. of Memphis.  Lucas, 16 years old is a budding violinist and will be a junior at SkyView High School this fall.  Rachel, 16 a junior at Hillcrest High School has won numerous awards and performed with several symphonies.  Many outstanding performers for us to enjoy!

4 Hims
The 4 Hims are back for another repeat performance on the Tabernacle noon concerts.  Four brothers with superb barbershop harmony combined with an abundance of fun.  They will have you wanting more when the hour is up.  Always a packed audience for this delightful hour!

Celeste Carruth
Violinist

Celeste completed bachelor’s degrees in violin performance and physics at the University of Michigan, and chose to pursue a career in physics research while continuing to study music in her free time. She has a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California-Berkeley and is now a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zürich, working to design a new physics experiment in the field of quantum information. In the past couple of years, she has performed in China, South Korea (including a special performance in the Demilitarized Zone), Italy, and Switzerland. Her program will feature compositions by Bach, Franck, Chausson, and others.

Jeff Karren, Organist


Jeff Karren will showcase the Logan Tabernacle organ, which has provided music to Cache Valley and its citizens for over 100 years. The program will include music to delight both organ aficionados and casual listeners, featuring classical favorites, organ masterworks, hymn preludes, and some other fun surprises.

Debbie Ditton, Voice Studio
Debbie Ditton has been teaching voice lessons in Cache Valley for 25 years. She has worked with Music Theatre West, Cache Theatre Company and Pickleville Playhouse, both onstage and behind the scenes.  She has invited some of her students and friends to sing with her in the Tabernacle.   They will present music from multiple genres. Debbie and her students have been contributing to the Noon Music Concert Series for many years.  Top performers! Don't miss!

Ranch Hands' Band
Ranch Hand Band is the Dale Major Family from Avon, Utah.  They perform classic western music. They have performed extensively and are the principal hosts of the Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous held each year in March. Members of the group (who are still living at home) will include Erin and Jake on vocals, fiddle and bass.  Dale, the Dad,  will be there to keep the pace and things under control!  A lot of Western fun!

An Evening with Brigham Young
Brigham Young was the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He founded Salt Lake City and led the founding for the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.  He was considered the "American Moses" because, like the biblical figure, he led his followers, the Mormon pioneers, in an exodus  through a desert, to what they saw as a promised land.  Young was dubbed by his followers the "Lion of the Lord" for his bold personality!  Come enjoy as "Brother Brigham" is brought to life by Bryce Chamberlain.

Michelle Broadbent Hatch
Vocal
A native of Cache Valley, Michelle holds music degrees from Utah State University, Brigham Young University, and is currently a doctoral candidate at Arizona State University. Her education also includes studies in Italy with Oberlin Conservatory of Music, as well as with Daniel Ferro of the Juilliard School. Michelle has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, was a district winner and regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and has appeared in concert world-wide.   She will warm your heart as she spans genres from Classical to Broadway. A program you won't want to miss!

SunShade'n Rain
Started in 1971, SunShade n' Rain has stood the test of time.  Men's three-part harmony that is magical!  Their music is patriotic, semi-classical with rock-n-roll sounds mixed in that will cause a nostalgic stir in your heart.  Touring extensively in the 70's and 80's they now tour the world doing conventions  and thrilling audiences young and old.  We are delighted to present them on the Tabernacle series.

Salt Lake Letter Carriers' Band
The Salt Lake Letter Carriers Band was organized in 1924 to represent the letter carriers of Salt Lake and the National Association of Letter carriers. At that time there were over 35 Bands but the number has since dwindled to about 6. At present this band is the largest amongst the remaining bands still in existence.  They have performed  at NALC conventions throughout the US. They also have participated in parades and other concerts throughout Utah and Idaho.  They not only deliver an awesome concert but you might also find them on any given day delivering your mail!

Lyric Repertory Company is a summer theatre company in residence at Utah State University, operating in the Caine Lyric Theatre, Morgan Theatre, and Black Box Theatre.  Shows this season include:  Raisin in the Sun, Mamma Mia, Clybourne Park, Murder for Two, the Great Society and Size Matters.  Performers from the shows will share their talents.  Always outstanding!

South Towns Talent Show Winners

The South Towns Talent Show is a unique talent show open to residents on the south end of Cache Valley. Our program will feature a selection of performers from the 2019 South Towns Talent Show. You’ll be sure to enjoy the local vocalists, pianists, and rock band featured in the show! Every performer is a local resident of Cache Valley.

Broadbent Family  

The Broadbents are back!  Richard and Merrilee, along with family members Michelle, James, Annie, and Chris make up the group. Individually, they are accomplished and experienced musicians.  Bring them together and the fun increases exponentially!   There will be a broad array of musical entrees, everything from soaring Broadway melodies to toe-tapping country music.  This will be a program you will thoroughly enjoy!

USU Music Dept. Alumni

Alumni from the music department at Utah State University will perform a recital of "No Dead White Guys." The composers represented include female composers, living composers, Asian American Composers, and African American composers. Performers include Brady Pope, Kylee Fullmer, Camille Weber, Sarah Hamatake, Brynn Vance, Ethan Seegmiller, McKenzie Clawson, Eric Walker, and Mallory Todd.  Will be not only unusual, perfected!

Jessica Roderer, USU Faculty Pianist

Jessica Roderer’s performances are “rich in emotion and dramatic passion”, The Deseret Morning News. Jessica graduated from USU in piano performance, and went on to earn a  doctorate from University of Southern California.   She has been on the piano faculty at Utah State University for the past few years and has recently accepted an offer to start teaching at BYU-Idaho as a full-time piano faculty member beginning in the fall. Superior teacher as we as performer!  Not to be missed!

Fry Street Quartet
This group is phenomenal!  It has been hailed as "a triumph of ensemble playing" by the New York Times – is a multi-faceted ensemble taking chamber music in new directions. Since securing the Grand Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the quartet has reached audiences from Carnegie Hall to London, and Sarajevo to Jerusalem.  Superb!

The Seegmiller Duo
Piano & Violin
Siblings Brynn Vance and Ethan Seegmiller present some of their favorite 'underplayed' works for violin and piano. Come and enjoy pieces by Stravinsky, Elgar, Mendelssohn, and Pärt and discover music you didn't know you liked. Born and raised in Boise, Idaho they both pursued music degrees from Utah State University in piano and violin performance respectively, and went on to get their Masters degrees in music performance at Utah State and Arizona State University.  This will be a treat!
