UTAH FESTIVAL OPERA

LORI POLUTU




Singer/songwriter Lorisa Pulotu began her carrier in 2007 singing and preforming with her daughter, Elora (who is her pianist). In 2012 she released her first album, Crimson Sky. Since then she has released a Country album, a Christmas Album, and several singles. She has preformed all over Utah and parts of Idaho. Some of her performances include the Kimball Arts Festival in Park City, the American Heritage Center, Brigham Young Historical park, Temple Square, Freedom Fire Celebration with the American Festival Chorus, and the Utah State Fair. In 2012 she and her daughter preformed with youtube sensation Alex Boye at the Kent Concert Hall.

MICHELLE BROADBENT




Michelle Broadbent is happy to be returning this year to the 2016 Tabernacle Concert Series. Michelle graduated from Utah State and earned a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from BYU-Provo. She won the Concerto Competition at both universities, was BYU’s “Singer of the Year,” and was a district winner and regional finalist in the prestigious MET Competition. She has studied and performed in Italy, as well as performing in England, Wales, Ireland, Russia, El Salvador and Guatemala. 

Michelle is an unusually gifted performer. Her gorgeous high notes and rich low range lend warmth and beauty to the many genres of music which she sings. Michelle possesses the unique ability to span styles and genres, delivering brilliant interpretations that will touch your hearts and lift your spirits.

SASSAFRAS FOLK AND STRING BAND



Sassafras Folk String Band fuses a mix of folk, bluegrass, contemporary and blues with driving fiddles and solid vocals into something truly special. Sassafras has been playing together for over a decade at such events as Summerfest, Salt Lake Tabernacle Concert Series, Utah Acoustic Music Association and the American West Heritage Center. Their instrumentation includes: Guitar, bass, fiddle, mandolin and banjo. Sassafras has something for everyone with accessible arrangements and sublime harmonies. Sassafras is: Marianne Sidwell, Genet Brown, Betty Leishman, Kristen Day and Candice Kempton.

Andy Checketts

Kayli and Andy are cousins living in Logan who like to sing.  
Kayli (11 years old) has been singing and dancing since she was 4 years old.  She started performing with the Utah Festival Opera summer shows when she was 8.  In 2014 she played the part of young Cosette in Les Miserables.  This summer she is enjoying her roles as a Neverland mystical dancing bird and Jane in Peter Pan.  Kayli recently performed with the American Festival Chorus as part of the Evening with Jay Richards Concert. She is considered by many to be another "Annie".  Andy plays folk and pop guitar. 

THE CONCERT AND LECTURE SERIES IS SPONSORED BY  CACHE COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AN INTERFAITH AND CIVIC ORGANIZATION, AND IS ALSO SPONSORED IN PART BY THE RAPZ TAX.  THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS ALLOWS FREE USE OF THE HISTORIC LOGAN TABERNACLE, AS WELL AS PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
