Come Hear the Logan Tabernacle Organ!!


 A Spring Organ Concert will held Friday, May 24th at 7:00 pm at the Logan Tabernacle.  The concert will feature four local organists: Karla Axtell, Kelvin Smith, Harry Heap, and Jonathan Rose.

Karla Axtell traveled to Italy in 2011 with the USU University Choirs where she accompanied the choirs at the organ in various cathedral performances.  She is currently studying organ with Lynn Thomas. Karla received her bachelor of music degree with piano emphasis from Utah State University.

Kelvin Smith received a Master’s Degree in 1992 from Brigham Young University in Organ Performance, studying under Parley Belnap. Kelvin is currently a Guest Organist at the Salt Lake Tabernacle for the noon organ recital series. His family enjoys a 39 rank pipe organ in their home.

Dr. Harold Heap, (alias Harry Heap), served as Organist and Choirmaster at St, John’s Episcopal in Logan for 20 years and has performed and directed choral and organ concerts in the Logan Tabernacle.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in voice at the University of Iowa, a Master’s Degree Cum Laude in conducting, and a Doctorate in Choral Literature and Conducting at the University of Illinois.

Jonathan Rose joined the musical staff of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Logan in 2009 as organist and choirmaster. He studied organ with R. Shane Fellows, James M. Drake and Lynn W. Thomas at USU and received a BA in Organ Performance in 2012.  He serves as Dean of the Cache Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

SUMMER NOON MUSIC SERIES INFORMATION
You can click on the first line under NOTICES on the top right of this blog to view or print the 2013 Summer Music Series Schedule.  This schedule flyer also will be available at the CACHE VALLEY VISITOR BUREAU, motels and businesses around town, and they will be handed out at SUMMER CITIZEN ORIENTATION on May 30th at USU.  Each week, the HERALD JOURNAL will have information in the HAPPENINGS section of the newspaper and on Friday, the CACHE MAGAZINE will hopefully give the list of performers for the following week.

The Concert and Lecture Series is sponsored by  Cache Community Connections and is sponsored in part by the RAPZ TAX.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides FREE use of the Tabernacle as well as other financial help.
