The SDL-developed Wide-field infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) instrument continues to be a key asset in the search for potential threats to the earth years after its primary mission ended. It was designed to survey the entire sky at infrared wavelengths and was proven to be a valuable means of discovering and characterizing the small bodies in our solar system. Following the conclusion of its primary mission, the WISE spacecraft was placed into hibernation in February 2011. Now the renamed NEOWISE, the spacecraft was reactivated in October 2013 to continue the search for NEOs.
